What is the right cat food?

You’ve got a cat. You go to the pet shop and come across a wide variety of brands and different presentations of cat food. How do you know which one to buy? Each food has a particular function. For example, cat food companies make hypoallergenic food for cats with digestive problems or undergoing medical treatment. They made these foods without cat allergens while still providing nutrients. If your cat cannot chew easily, veterinarians recommend hypoallergenic wet cat food because it is easier to chew and swallow and often has more nutrients than dry food. Choosing the right food for your cat is vital to keep your cat healthy, full of energy, and avoiding it being overweight. Weight problems are bad for cats because their nature compels them to climb.

What is the proper diet for your cat?

Cat food makes feeding cats easier. But, in a market full of food brands, how do you know the right one for your cat? Because cats belong to the feline family, they must have a diet based on animal proteins. Before you buy the food you want to feed your favourite feline, make sure it contains at least 50% of animal protein. Some brands use plant-based protein to offer a more economical food. Although these foods also “feed” your cat, they do not provide the nutrients your cat’s body needs. A fat cat with hair loss problems may be a sign that your cat’s food is not the right choice. If your budget doesn’t allow it, you can use animal protein cat food 1-2 times a week and supplement the rest of the week with cheaper food.

Don’t fall into marketing traps

Cat food companies often use words or phrases on their packaging to make their cat food more appealing. Marketing campaigns use words like primitive, ancestral, or wild to lure you into a “marketing trap” that portrays poor-quality food as the best you can give your cat. All companies must publish the contents of their food on the back of the packaging. Do not fall for fancy words, but check the ingredients in the cat food before you buy it. Also, if your cat has a sensitive digestive system, it’s easier to find out what’s wrong with it when you keep track of the ingredients in the food you feed it. You can get a list of ingredients that can cause allergies in some cats online and avoid them before spending your money on cat food that won’t do your pampered cat any good.
